First Few Drops of Oil 2007

Oil paint was a new medium to me introduced by my former lecturer, Salleh Jappar, back in 2007 while he was in charge of the 2nd year Fine Arts faculty batch. During the start of my 2nd year then, the school brought us out on a trip to Sungei Buloh to take some pictures of the landscape sceneries.
After a collection of photos have been snapped, we had to produce landscapes in oil painting and explore our own styles of painting.

At that learning point of time, I had difficulties discovering my style of painting because of lack of exposure and exploration. After some practices and research, I got fascinated by textures and contrasts and realism.

Oil painting was time consuming because of the time it takes for each layer to dry but the good side of it is that it does not dry as fast as acrylic paint which gives an allowance of time for adjustments and blending.
